Abadía de Montserrat - EN 1 October de 2026
Thursday, October 1, 2026.- The abbey has opened the 2026-2027 academic year of the Studium Filosoficoteològic of Montserrat, a training center promoted by the monastery itself and dedicated to the ecclesiastical, theological, and philosophical instruction of the monks of the Benedictine community, as well as monks and nuns from other orders. These are university-level studies, taught mainly by monks of Montserrat and supported by the collection of the Biblioteca de Montserrat.

The opening ceremony took place in the Sala de la Façana of the monastery, featuring welcoming remarks by Fr. Manel Gasch i Hurios, Abbot of Montserrat, and Fr. Josep-Enric Parellada, director of the Studium and monk of Montserrat. Fr. Parellada introduced the lecture “La Sagrada Família: com es construeix un temple al segle XXI,” delivered by Ramon Espel, technical architect and head of construction for over 25 years at the temple designed by Antoni Gaudí. Afterwards, time was opened for dialogue.

In this way, the abbey has kicked off a new academic year, as always, open to creating a place of learning, reflection, and community life, with academic rigor and theological commitment.
