One Hundred Years of the Vilafranca del Penedès Pilgrimage
Special mention goes to the pilgrimage of Vilafranca del Penedès, which, on the occasion of its centenary, brought together more than 500 residents of Vilafranca. As part of its event program, on Saturday at the Basilica of Santa Maria, the Holy Christ presided over the presbytery during the pilgrims' Mass, the Vigil of Holy Mary, and the traditional Stations of the Cross. Furthermore, the 50th anniversary of the re-erection of the Cross of Saint Michael—installed in 1976 by the Cos de Portants—was commemorated with the unveiling of a new commemorative plaque. The activities concluded on Sunday at noon following the Conventual Mass, which gathered 350 pilgrims, and the gathering ended with the reception of the pilgrimage by Fr. Manel Gasch i Hurios, Abbot of Montserrat.
