Abadía de Montserrat - EN 25 October de 2026
Sunday, October 25th, 2026.- The Abadia de Montserrat has once again celebrated its annual sardanista gathering, bringing together hundreds of lovers of our traditional dance for the 74th edition of the festival.

First, a delegation from the organizing entity, Som Sardana, participated in the Conventual Mass by reading a text and presenting an offering to Our Lady.

Upon leaving the liturgical service, listening to the music of the Cobla Vila d'Olesa, the dancers joined hands and danced a repertoire of ten sardanes, featuring pieces such as Promesa de tardor, by Josep Serra i Cassú, and Cantant l’amor, by Josep Vicens i Juli, "Xaxu". As always, the finale was marked by the traditional closing rhythm with the sardana És la Moreneta, by Antoni Carcellé i Tosca. Later, the group placed an offering of votive nails dedicated to Pep Ventura along the Camí dels Degotalls.

Participants included the Grup Sardanista d'Horta, the Foment Sardanista Andreuenc, the Agrupació Sardanista l'Ideal d'en Clavé, the Coordinadora d'Entitats Sardanistes de Barcelona, the Agrupació Sardanista de Malgrat de Mar, the Agrupació 1 d'Octubre de Centelles, the Amics de la Sardana de Cornellà, the Casal de Gent Gran de Navàs, the Entitat Sardanista La Vella de Gràcia, and people from Parets del Vallès, Castellar del Vallès, Olesa de Montserrat, and Osona.

Som Sardana is the umbrella organization under which the Confederació Sardanista de Catalunya operates, bringing together all federations and organizations in the sardanista sector to work jointly in promoting the sardana and cobla music. It is the successor to the former Obra del Ballet Popular, which was dissolved in May 2026 after three quarters of a century of service (1950–2026) to Catalan dance.
