Adifolk brings back a taste of international folk groups to the Abbey of Montserrat
Groups from Panama, Poland, and Mexico performance a demonstration of their folklore in front of the monastery.

Tuesday, September 8, 2026.- It is early September once again at the Abbey of Montserrat, which means the International Folklore Days (JIF) of Catalonia are back, now in their 54th edition, and, as in the last two years, making a stop at Montserrat once again. This year, the JIF are taking place from September 4 to 13 and will tour thirteen Catalan counties.
Following the Conventual Mass, where Adifolk read an introductory address, around eighty members from the three international groups invited to this edition performed in the Plaça de Santa Maria, right in front of the monastery. The performances featured the Agrupación Folklórica Encantos de Mi Panamá (Panama), the Artystyczny PRZYGODA W Rybniku ensemble (Poland), and the Grupo Folklórico Cielito Lindo (Mexico).
Des de 1972, de la mà d’Adifolk, les JIF porten el folklore internacional per tot el territori català, amb la voluntat de transmetre diverses maneres d’expressar l’art i els balls tradicionals i fomentar la fraternitat entre els diferents pobles.
Al llarg de la història de les jornades, és la cinquena ocasió que la trobada fa parada a l’Abadia de Montserrat, i, en concret, des del 2024 i el Mil·lenari del Monestir, és un exemple de continuïtat anual facilitat pel vincle entre l’abadia i Adifolk, amb l’objectiu de difondre el folklore i afavorir l’intercanvi cultural.
