[entradeta] => 1 If a brother who through his own fault leaves the monastery wishes to return, he must first promise the total amendment of the reason for which he left, 2 and then be admitted to the last place, thereby testing his humility. 3 And if he should leave again, let him be admitted similarly up to three times; but let him know that henceforth all possibility of return will be denied to him.
[cos] => The humble and sincere return to the community. Before a brother who has left through his own fault but wishes to return, the door is not suddenly closed: he may be readmitted up to three times. This generosity reflects a great humanity and hope in the face of human fragility. However, it demands firm conditions: the promise of total amendment regarding the reasons for his departure and a humble attitude accepting the last place in the community. The Benedictine attitude reminds us that God never despair of anyone, always offering an opportunity for conversion to those who sincerely wish to resume the path of communion.
