Monday Ember Days of Thanksgiving and Petition (Deut 8:7-18)
Today the Church, once holidays and harvests have ended and regular routine is resumed, invites us to give thanks for all that we have received; as we read in the Book of Deuteronomy: "When you have gathered all these goods, do not say in your heart, 'My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me': remember the Lord your God." Look at what you have accumulated this year; do you think there is something you could share?
Lord, I ask for your help so that I do not fall into the temptation of idolizing what I possess.
