Thursday XXIII (1Co 8, 1b-7.11-13)

Here is a principle that we should always keep in mind: "Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up... God only recognizes those who love"; this comes up to comment that when someone believes in one God, they should not place importance on eating meat offered to idols, but doing so can scandalize weaker brothers and sisters. Hence his conclusion: "If food (meat offered to idols) causes my brother to fall, I will never eat meat again, so as not to scandalize him!" Sometimes our knowledge (the awareness of knowing the truth) can give us the freedom to do certain things, but this may surprise some brothers and sisters. What should I do? Lord, may my attitudes not discourage others.
